The Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) belongs to the „Forschungsverbund Berlin e. V. (FVB)“. The FVB is an institution of seven natural sciences research institutes in Berlin funded by the Federal Republic of Germany and the association of its federal states. The research institutes belong to the Leibniz Association.

The Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) is a non-university academic research organisation dedicated to basic biomedical research and is located at the Research Campus Berlin-Buch in close vicinity to the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine and the Charité Experimental and Clinical Research Center.

The research unit Structural Chemistry & Computational Biophysics led by Prof. Han Sun is looking for a

Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d)

(Ref. 25/2022)

The position is to be filled as soon as possible and initially limited to 2 years with the potential for extension.

Project description:

The Sun lab (https://www.leibniz-fmp.de/sun) uses and develops molecular modelling and molecular dynamics simulations together with other cheminformatic and bioinformatic tools with the aim of designing novel bioactive molecules and characterizing their interactions with biological targets. The postdoctoral position is linked to a project that aims to use machine learning and other cheminformatic based methods to develop novel small molecule modulators as well as analyze Cell Painting (image-based profiling) data, which becomes a promising tool for drug discovery. The Sun lab is embedded in the Chemical Biology Platform at FMP and closely works with the Screening Unit and Medicinal Chemistry group. The postdoctoral researcher will not only analyze data from the literature, but will have direct access to the high-throughput data obtained by our internal collaborators. The Cell Painting project is also supported by the strong expertise of the Cellular Imaging group at FMP.

Requirements:

We seek highly motivated, ambitious, and talented young scientists to join an enthusiastic and collaborative team in an outstanding scientific environment to perform research. The successful candidates should have a PhD in cheminformatics, bioinformatics or biophysics, and experiences in developing in silico approaches for drug discovery. Candidates who have experience in applying machine learning based approaches to high throughput data, multiparameter data reduction and analysis or a solid background in molecular modeling are also encouraged to apply.

We offer:

·         An attractive environment in a pleasant, friendly working atmosphere with an excellent infrastructure

·         Employment with all benefits of the public service

·         Continuing education and training

·         Family service

Salaries will be based on TVöD. In 2013 the institute was awarded the certificate of the audit Beruf und Familie as a family-friendly employer. We offer equal opportunities regardless of gender and welcome applications of disabled candidates. They will be preferred in case of equal qualification. We welcome applications from all backgrounds.
