At the Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP), we are seeking an outstanding scientist as a
Junior Group Leader (m/f/d) in NMR-based Structural Biology.
The position is available as of November 1st, 2021.
The candidate will have a Ph.D. degree in (Bio)Physics, (Bio)Chemistry, Biology, or related discipline, considerable postdoctoral experience and a proven track record of scientific excellence. The group is expected to perform innovative research in NMR-based Structural Biology related to or complementing the research portfolio of the FMP. Approaches based on solid- and/or solution-state NMR spectroscopy with the aim to investigate membrane proteins, IDPs, RNA, or phase-separating systems within an attractive biomedical research field are particularly welcome.
The institute offers a vibrant interdisciplinary research environment. FMP researchers have access to advanced technology platforms including solution- and solid-state NMR-spectroscopy, mass spectrometry-based proteomics, live cell super-resolution imaging, (cryo-) electron microscopy as well as small-molecule and whole-genome siRNA screening. In terms of NMR, significant measurement time will be allocated to the new group (spectrometers from 400 up to 900 MHz, including DNP equipment). Notably, in 2022, a 1.2 GHz NMR spectrometer equipped with a variety of solid-state and solution NMR probes will be installed at FMP.
The position is initially limited to a period of 5 years with the possibility to extension up to 9 years in total. Candidates are expected to secure extramural funding within young investigator programs of national or international organizations, such as the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), the German Ministry of Science (BMBF), or the European Research Council (ERC).
The Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) is a member of the Leibniz Association and is legally represented by the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. The institute is located on the biomedical campus in Berlin-Buch, and offers an excellent scientific environment along with the creative and inspiring atmosphere of an institution at the forefront of its field. Financial compensation will be competitive and depends on previous research experience. In addition, a start-up package for equipment, yearly personnel and running costs will be provided. Salaries will be based on TVöD Bund.
